Terms of Service
Last updated 31 October 2026. This is a working draft, written against what the product actually does today, shown here for review before a UK solicitor checks it — bracketed text marks details still to be confirmed.
Who we are, and who these terms are between
Meryn Ltd (“Meryn”, “we”, “us”), company number to be confirmed, registered office to be confirmed, operates the Meryn platform at meryn.co.uk. These terms are between Meryn and the business or individual that signs up for an account (“you”, the “account holder”) — both limited companies and sole traders. By creating an account you agree to these terms.
The service
Meryn is an AI receptionist for caterers, venues and similar businesses: it answers enquiries, qualifies them against your approved answers, and (on plans that include it) books appointments against your real availability. The service is still being prepared for its first live customers — some parts (for example, answering a real phone number) may not be available to every account yet.
Free trial
New accounts get a 14-day free trial of the Growth plan, no payment card required to start. If you don’t choose a paid plan before the trial ends, your account stops being able to use the service until you do.
Plans, pricing and billing
- Starter — £49 a month, 100 answered calls included.
- Growth — £149 a month, 500 answered calls included.
- Events Pro — £299 a month, 1,500 answered calls included.
Prices include VAT and are billed monthly in advance through Stripe, our payment processor. Answered calls beyond your plan’s allowance are charged at 50p each. We may change our prices; we’ll give you notice before a change applies to your account.
If a payment fails, Stripe automatically retries it for up to 7 days. If it still hasn’t succeeded by then, your subscription is cancelled.
Cancelling
You can cancel at any time from Settings → Billing. Cancelling stops renewal at the end of the period you’ve already paid for — you keep access until then, and we don’t refund the unused part of that period.
Your data, and what happens when you cancel or delete your business
You own the data you put into Meryn (your business details, knowledge base, contacts, leads and bookings). We process it to provide the service, as set out in our Privacy Policy. If your account is cancelled for non-payment, we keep your data for 30 days (you can export it or reactivate your subscription in that window), then delete it permanently and email you to confirm. Deleting your business yourself from Settings → Privacy is immediate and cannot be undone.
Acceptable use
Don’t use Meryn for anything unlawful, to harass or deceive callers, to send content you don’t have the right to send, or to try to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the service. We can suspend or terminate an account that breaches this, as described in our Privacy Policy’s security section and the account controls already available to you.
The AI receptionist's answers
Meryn answers from the knowledge base and business details you’ve approved. You’re responsible for keeping that information accurate and for reviewing calls, bookings and summaries it produces. We work to make it reliable, but it’s still software: check anything important before relying on it, the same way you’d check a new team member’s work while they learn your business.
Service availability
We aim to keep Meryn available and working as described, but we don’t promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may need to pause it for maintenance or because of something outside our control. We’re not liable for losses caused by the service being unavailable, except where the law doesn’t allow us to exclude that.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t legally be limited (for example, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud). Subject to that, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of Meryn is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We’re not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost bookings. Exact liability cap and any industry-specific carve-outs to be confirmed with a solicitor.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. We’ll give account holders reasonable notice of a material change by email before it takes effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. To confirm with a solicitor, including any required alternative-dispute-resolution step for consumer/sole-trader customers.
